Intro: Deathloop is a first-person action-adventure game that asks the question, what would you do if you could repeat your actions, and the outcome is a different one every time? Your goal is to break the loop and end the cycle. With witty character interaction, intriguing plotlines and stories to explore, Deathloop is a simple and to the point game that, at first is fun and immersive but as the game goes past the second hour of play time, quickly becomes something trite. At certain points with overly simplified objectives, it loses the charm and fascination for the game that drew me in. Over and Over: while Deathloop has charm in its dialogue and philosophical notes that carry the story, once you get to the main potion of the game where you have to kill visionaries to break the loop, a repetitive nature begins and while I get that that’s the point, the game started to become a drag for me. Now this game does have some amazing points to it, and I find that the beautiful part about this game is the concept of doing something over and over again with obtaining knowledge from the previous time, allowing you in a very Souls-like way to get stronger, and take on the same objective in a new way, with a new mindset.
Groundhog Day: As far as the controls go, there is nothing I can say expect they are really well done and responsive, and hearing Juliana through PS5 controller made me giddy with joy! Although, I did run into a few crashes here and there, so do be wary about that. All in all, this game (so far) has moments that truly grab me and make me want to keep playing and dive into it, but there are other moments where I go a couple of days without even touching the game. When I finish it, I will be very interested to see how this game ends and how the rest of the story ties together.
