Every story has a beginning, with every perception and every version the truth becomes clearer and clearer. What exactly happened in Raccoon City Utah? What leads to the viral outbreak that we all know? Let’s uncover the truth…. Let’s unearth what has been lying dormant for a very long time. Resident Evil Zero is a third-person psychological horror game that was released in 2002 and is the fifth installment in the Resident Evil series that acts as a precursor to what happened in Arklay mountains. This game has the eeriness that we all know and love but with some differences that make this game slightly more difficult than other resident evil games. There was a new mechanism that was introduced where you could switch between partners and drop items that were inspired by the game from 1989 Sweet Home. This Resident Evil is very different from the rest, not only is it slightly more challenging than the others, but it has a direct correlation to the first game. So technically you could play Resident Evil Zero first, then the first game, and so on. In this game, you are, at first Playing as Rebecca Chambers then when you get further into the gameplay meet a former Marine Billy Cohen that you switch in playing as the main character often to complete puzzles. Similarly to the first, the music was elegantly creepy and fit each mood and boss battle to a T, with every movement it felt like the music flowed with my character and became one with them. The music will always be a very important thing in this series. Without it, I feel as if the game wouldn’t have the life and fines that it does. But in accordance with the music of Resident Evil Zero, the monsters were just as creepy. Just like the first game, the zombies created this unbreakable bond with the story, they created a realistic atmosphere with their lifelike grunts and attacks. Yes, I know that zombies aren’t real, but it was acted out in such a way that the movements were not that of just merely a game character but that of a human, you see what I mean? Since this game is a prequel to Resident Evil there are a lot of clues and bits of the story that has been filled in for us. Who Wesker really is, who Billy Cohen really is, and why Umbrella is such an important company. Now here comes the part where you will understand Wesker a bit better. As a lot of Resident Evil fans know, Wesker worked with William Birkin on another form for the T-Virus Called The G-Virus. The G-Virus is the result of many attempts conducted with the NE-a Parasite, a resilient prototype parasite that would later become the Nemesis Project. Wesker then joins S.T.A.R.S, which he only does to act as a sort of double agent for Umbrella, so he can receive intel from S.T.A.R.S, but still, work with Umbrella on refining his research on the T-Virus. Billy and Rebecca throughout the game complete puzzles and uncover more of the mystery that is The Umbrella Corporation. There is so much of this plotline that connects it to the first game, it truly makes me happy at the seamless writing and cohesive plotline. But with every seamless plotline comes new properties that need to be added in to make the story flow and make sense. There is a character that was mentioned in the notes of the first game, Marcus, who was assassinated by Oswald E. Spencer, the owner of the Spencer estate that Jill, Chris, and Barry investigate. After Marcus was assassinated, and his body dumped, the queen leech entered and reanimated his body causing what was the viral outbreak in Raccoon City, and in the Arklay Mountains. And overlooking a mountain with hope, and wonder at a less corrupt future, Billy leaves Rebecca on a cliff, to return to her comrades in Bravo Team. Gunshots fired, and a new story begins.
so would I recommend this game to you? Yes, I would, it perfectly describes an idea prequal to the incident that occurs in Arkaly Mountains. #residentevilzero #capcom #gaming
