How the one affects the many: After Us review Part one

A subjective world: After Us is a third person adventure platforming game where you play as Gaia wisping around the world, restoring life back into its core. Playing as Gaia and traversing through each location waking the very essence of life back from its slumber, we are reminded of a very important thing. How the action of one can affect the many. From exploring within a world that has been destroyed, to encountering the ghosts of humans past that helped to destroy the home that Gaia now has to rebuild, it was clear that upon playing the game that the narrative would be heavily subjective with suggested ideas along the way. An idea of sorts where, this is what the game could be about, but we will let you create your own narrative, at least that is what I got from playing this game thus far. The Story so Far: So far, I have played 4.8 hours of this game and while the concept is repetitive, the areas are anything but. The story in it of itself is subjective but gives an overarching vibe to it that we need to save the spirits of the world that withered. Going from area to area, each one has a different vibe from the rest, but the concept still remains, save the soul of that area and whichever memories you can recover along with it. A Leap and a Jump: The platforming in this game reminds me of Ori and the Blind Forest, it's very whimsical and carries a sense of playfulness to the overall feel of the game. while at times the mechanics and platforming stunts are not forgiving at all, it creates a sense of creativity in the world, giving you freedom in your movements and makes an entire area a puzzle within the way you can get to your main objective. Getting away from monsters isn't the easiest at times, and while the monsters go along with the main theme of the story, I feel it would have been better if there were no human monsters at all, and only environmental threats giving more to the concept of the land taking over instead of the humans still occupying the world that they destroyed. Thoughts so far: So far I’m really enjoying this game. yes it’s a tad repetitive, with some graphical bugs here and there but im really enjoying the atmospherical immersion and how the game presents itself to the player. The game more or less is giving us the message to treat our home with respect and it in return will give us the same kindness.
