If Call of Duty Had Aliens: Alien Fire Team Elite

Intro: Alien Fire Team is a co-op experience that incorporates single player, it puts the players right in the battlefield, and in front of many a’ Xenomorphs. With aliens invading, androids helping (if you’re playing single player that is), and an interface that resembles that of Call of Duty Warzone, I feel as if the experience of Aliens is getting cheapened, and the 1979 film and game Alien Isolation are staring at this creating going “where did things go wrong?” While this title has the potential to be something truly fun and immersive it gets wasted on being just another co-op that panders to the modern-day idea that “all games need to act as if they are on cocaine or they’re not enjoyable” mentality. Creating a game that already had an enjoyable and successful predecessor, and turning it into something lackluster and trite, it makes me feel as if this game was simply nothing more than a cash grab, and not a game that was made with the fans in mind. OP Androids Steal The Show: While certain aspects of this game have promise in a sense that could be utilize for a true to the story Alien experience, other parts kill it for me personally. The main issue I had were the androids. They were overpowered, and if I stood there long enough, they would just do all the work for me. I had to put in minimal effort into what I was doing, and for me, that’s not fun. Whether it was the difficulty level I picked, or the game itself, if single player is that easy it takes the fun out of things entirely and removes the challenge for the player. While I know some people want more of a chill relaxed experience when playing a game, spoon feeding you isn’t the idea when it comes to a shooter like this, at least it shouldn’t be. Bits and Pieces: Like I stated previously, certain aspects of this game have promise in a sense that they could be utilize for a true to the story Alien experience. By making this game, I feel the chances of the gaming community getting a sequel to Alien Isolation or its DLC’s have slimmed because of the lackluster release Alien FireTeam got. While I believe there are promising bits and pieces, the game as a whole isn’t something that draws me back in. While yes, the accessibility is good, and the controls are easy to maneuver with no issue, it’s the fact that the franchise and its fans deserved better in terms of a game that truly delivers in value the same way Alien Isolation did.
