Switch Lite review and Luigis Mansion Three Review (WARNING SPOILERS)

Updated: May 15, 2021

This past month I made the investment, I took the leap, and the plunged the depths of what will be my first ever “Tech review” . I will be going over the switch lite and how it works with a game. So technically it will be two reviews in one. I know I am late to the so called switch hype, but I know there are and have been SEVERAL reviews already but im excited more than anything to put my two cents in and give you guys a review that can help your purchasing decision in any way if you are looking to buy said switch lite.  Or if you’re not getting one and you just happen to stumble across my friendly review, hello and welcome.

The switch lite is one of the many handheld consoles that has graced me with its prescience. During my lifetime I have played two other handheld consoles such as the Game Boy Color and the Game Boy Advanced.  The switch lite has been not just a dive into a modern throwback, but has been a worthy investment for me since I review A LOT of games.  Sometimes taking the leap and buying an overly hyped product shall we say can either turn out amazing, or be a complete bust. Fortunately enough the switch lite was not a bust and I don’t have to regret spending a little over $200 USD for it.

Now when or if you decide to buy a switch knows there are two type. Type A, which has removable joy cons, and a charging station. It can also be played both on the go and as a console through a TV, and PC. The switch lite is only a portable console and cannot be hooked up to your computer or TV. Now right off the bat, yes, all switch games will work on both models this is a question that people had towards the beginning of my mentioning’s of buying the switch. The switch lite and regular switch are very similar in design and functionality. Only a few things separate them, as per what I started above

The functions of the switch lite are easy to use, and in combination with the game lugis mansion three make for easy, and sometimes challenging Game play. Challenging in a sense that it works really well with the game and you have to use multiple controls at once to make one thing happen. Let’s just say you need to know how to multitask really well in the game luigis mansion.  In this game and with this console everything is utilized to its fullest capabilities. In some handhelds you only use some controls, or only A and B. But with the switch you utilize EVERYTHING, even multiple controls at one which I love the controls on this thing, they are no joke. There are alot of them that can be used to meet your end goal in a game. There is a:  top, L and R button ZL and ZR button Y,X,A,B button two toggle buttons a home button a left right up and down buttons skip cut scene button, and guide button and there is even a screen shot button. It is sleek, compact and doesn’t get tiring on the hands when playing either. I know, I sounds like an AD right now, but genuinely if you haven’t gotten a switch, or switch lite you should get one ASAP.

Coming from someone who has played a lot of Mario in the past, this was for sure an amazing throw back for me. Luigis mansion is one of those games that is challenging, fun, quirky and downright adorable.  It can be challenging at times to play in a great way because of how many things you can potentially be doing at once. Luigis Mansion three is a long awaited title that luigi and Mario fans alike have been waiting for with a passion. I do have to say my favorite part of the game is when he retrieves the megaphone for the stage director. At the end of your fifteen minutes of fame in a Godzilla esque role, you get to see the film that you played a part in. again, I will say, again, this is downright adorable, and made me feel slightly old since I used to watch Godzilla as a kid.

I wont give too much of the game away since it is still *fairly new* and allot of people are still playing it, but what I will say is that the game is fun, challenging at points and a throwback to my childhood. Its nice to be able to play a game on my own, and not on the channel, even though I am still reviewing it, its nice to be able to wind down at night with a game, like the good old days of the game boy color and some Pokémon  Crystal.   Do your research, and remember this is still a hefty investment. The console itself is $199 USD plus tax, and it does not include a game. If you live in the states its honestly cheaper to get a switch game at Wal-Mart than at game stop (didn’t know that before purchasing.) game stop sells their switch games for $59 USD, and Wal-Mart sells their switch games for $49 USD. Pick your poison wisely. At the end it comes to a little over $200 USD, and that’s only the Switch Lite. If you were to get the regular switch, that would be over $300.

But have fun, spend wisely, and understand gaming is a want, not a need.  There are other versions of this console coming out either this year or next so having the latest thing when it first comes out is not a necessity. Unless you’re like me and you review games for a living.
