Intro: - When we look at the place we grew up in, we always take for granted where we are and think “oh, this place will be the same as it will be in a memory.” We then look to a shiny place called the future and reflect our hopes, our dreams and goals for how our life should turn out. The charm of New York is how you can mess up, succeed, mess up and live as many lives as you want to. New York isn’t just a place. It’s a statement, furthermore it’s A mind set. A Biased Love: - The most magnificent thing about New York is the atmosphere. Going through the Holland tunnel, seeing a peak of light and entering Canal Street I feel like I just came home. As a New Jersey native who spent most of her time, and I mean almost EVERY DAY in Manhattan, that place felt more like my home than New Jersey ever could. The home you are in doesn’t necessarily mean it is home. Making a home is a mental state and a process of feeling comfortable. It is almost unexplainable to an extent because when you know you’re home. You just know. I have a biased love with New York because of the memories it holds for me. Getting hotdogs with my mom on the street corner, going to Lord and Taylors to see the spring collection, having lunch at Sax’s Fifth Avenue even just going to the public library to talk, have coffee and see what new books they have. I have a biased love, a rich memory bank filled with stories and things to ogle over with fondness.
- But when you look at where you live don’t think that you have to leave. Make your own New York. Everyone always looks to New York as this beacon of light and success and wealth when in reality any state you go to has that. There are cars, streets, busses, roads, tall buildings and people. We create our own New York. We create our own dreams.
Dreams Are Never Too Late To Reach. - During a pandemic it’s hard to even contemplate a sense of normalcy elt alone success in a time when we are made to stay at home, not interact with others and gorge ourselves on pizza, feeling and a sense of self loathing….Ok, maybe that’s just me. But you get where I’m coming from. While we are all still in this very young and are spending some of our best days either slaving away at a job we hate or at home working from a computer are all affected. It’s never too late to reach for what you want and most importantly need for your life. Pandemic or not, reach for your own New York.
